The Caroline Kennedy Sarah Palin Comparison

December 21, 2008

(New York) The media has quickly picked up the story of Caroline Kennedy’s desire to become the next Senator from New York. With the appointment of Senator Hillary Clinton to be the next Secretary of State for President-Elect Obama’s administration Governor Patterson is set to appoint a replacement. Caroline Kennedy is the apparent front runner for that Senate seat.

There has been an outcry from all sides of the political spectrum regarding her lack of experience to do the job. There is a belief that she seems to be a front runner simply because of the Kennedy name. We have heard the same arguments used by the left against Sarah Palin now being used by the right against Caroline Kennedy. Let us make some proper comparisons.

Under the Constitution of the United States both candidates met qualification for their respective offices. Up against each other, Governor Palin has undoubtedly more political experience. There is the feeling that both of these women were appointed instead of elected. One could make the case that Governor Palin had done more to earn the job of Vice President than Caroline Kennedy had done to earn the job as Senator.

If one were to look at these factors then there should have undoubtedly been no questions regarding Sarah Palin’s qualifications for the job. We learn however that these are not the only factors, we are missing the most important one. (more…)

Change has come to America

November 6, 2008

For almost two years now, this political experience has taken over many of our lives. I remember hearing Barack Obama in Springfield, Illinois on February 10, 2007 when he announced his presidency. I remember that win in Iowa, the speech in New Hampshire.

I remember Hillary Clinton and John Edwards.

Yesterday, on election day from coast to coast, America spoke. The world was listening.

Generations from now, we’ll be able to tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and give jobs to the jobless.

This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. This was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation, and restored our image as the last best hope on earth.

Thank you to all of the people who gave their time, their money, and their support to this campaign.

It’s been a long time coming, but change is coming to America.

Barack Obama buys 30 minute Infomercials (updated)

October 29, 2008

Recently Barack Obama’s campaign announced that they will be running 30 minute television ads simultaneously on almost all local and cable stations. It’s supposed to be aired tonight.

Never before in politics has this been seen this late in a campaign, and it shows the money the Obama campaign has.

From my sources inside the campaign, I’ve heard that these infomercials will be Barack sitting down with families and talking about how his plan would help them.

So for all those asking me, you can catch the progrma tonight at 8pm on CBS, NBC, FOX, BET, TV One, and the spanish language station Univision.

Men charged with plotting to kill Obama

October 27, 2008

So the countdown has begun. With 8 days left to E-day, Obama looks like he has this election all wrapped up and already two men have been arrested last week plotting to assassinate Obama.  Daniel Cowart, 20, and Paul Schlesselman, 18, were self-described white supremacists who were arrested arrested for  possession of sawed off shotgun and that they were going to raid a gun shop for ammunition. In the transcript they told they were planing on assassinating Obama and were charged for making threats against a presidential candidate.

The thing that disturb me the most about this article and when I saw it been reported on CNN was that they were going to start a killing spree at school predominately African-American to send a message. Then start killing innocent African-Americans until they reach their primary target Barack Obama. In the report that they would have willing to died for this to happen because of their skinhead philosophy.

I am very upset and sadden by this report. I am upset because is this THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? Is it? This sounds like third world country where there is political unrest by the people. This should not occur in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We are cucurrently fighting countries that are political unrest bring democracy to their country so they can have fair and peaceful elections. In the United States we should not have that. This skins head, white supremacy, racist etc… need to get over the fact that the United States of America is changing. Soon they will be the minority in these country. They need to expect the face the facts that upcoming elections more and more minorities will be running for higher office and no matter what race, color, gender, or sexual orientation its GOING TO HAPPEN NOT BY IF, BUT WHEN! IF THEY CAN’T ACCEPT IT, THEN YOU KNOW WHAT EITHER YOU GET OUT OF THIS COUNTRY OR DON’T VOTE!  There is no reason to kill innocent people just to protect our ideology. America is not based upon that. American is built on immigrants and opportunity for everyone.

Since the begin I have said to all my friends and family. If Obama gets elected that the countdown will begin until he is assassinated. I don’t want to see it happen, LET ME REPEAT I DON’T WANT TO SEE IT HAPPEN! But if you got two young adults plotting to kill him, I’m sure they are others who are planning the same. Now we saw a little bit of the unrest at McCain’s campaign when people in the background are saying,  “kill him” or “off with his head” All of this slur is building tension among these people who don’t want to see a Black President. Like i said if you got two young adults wanting to kill Obama and I’m sure that they are others who are wanting to the same. Like I said I don’t want to see Obama get assassinate, but God forbid it does then it will be a dark time in America. This would lead to civil and political unrest all across America. It will put fear into minorities for running for higher office if people can’t accept them. In my mind America is no better than any other non democratic government.

9 Days away: Obama calls on volunteers to help

October 26, 2008

I can’t believe it’s almost over. At times it seems like the longest campaign ever, at times the shortest. Today in Colorado in front of an audience of 100,000 Barack Obama reminded us why we are here.

“The reason that all of us are here is because somewhere in the past we had a parent or a grandparent who said, you know I may never go to college, but I’m going to work hard. I’m going to save that little bit, maybe my child or my grandchild will go to college. I may not ever own my own business, I’m going to have to work in this dirty tough job but you know maybe if i work hard I can give my child a better future and maybe they’ll own their first business someday.

Maybe some of your parents or grandparents, they were born in another country without freedom of speech or freedom of worship but they said you know what, we know there’s this land across the ocean called America where it’s a land of opportunity and a land of freedom and we’re willing to take the risk to travel to that place to create a better future for our children and our grandchildren.

In this audience there are people who’s parents or grandparents couldn’t cast a vote but they said to themselves maybe my child or my grandchild, if we march, if we struggle maybe they will be able to run for the Untied States Senate maybe they might run for the presidency of the United States of America. That’s what this election is about, that’s why you’re here today.

And if you will organize with me, and march with me, and knock on doors with me and make phone calls with me for 9 more days then I promise you we will not just win Denver, we will win Colorado. We will win this election and you and I together, we’re going to change this country and change the world

Thank you everybody. God bless you, God bless the United States of America”

I personally urge all of you, reach out to your fellow Americans. Pick up the phone, dust off those walking shoes, even drive to another state. Rarely in your life will you get an opportunity to say you played a major part in changing the direction of the most powerful country in the world for the better.

Here below is how you can help.

Barack Obama for President
If you want to reach out and make phone calls click here.
If you want to drive to another state click here.
If you want to volunteer then click here.

If you want to help out locally and affect change you will see everyday, help out your local races for State Senate. We have some very urgent State Senate races here in Queens and Suffolk County to take out some long time Republican incumbents and turn the State blue for the first time in decades!

Take a moment out of your day, to make a change on the local level. Change starts with you. Let’s make sure Republicans not only know this is our country, but this is our state. Let’s take it back!

James Gennaro for State Senate

He’s a Democrat in North Eastern Queens looking to unseat 18 term Republican incumbent Frank Padavan. He’s done enormous work in protecting the environment and keeping this part of Queens from being overdeveloped. Frank is no friend of the College Democrats, and I will not hide the fact that getting him out of office would be a dream come true.

If you want to help out the efforts just call HQ at (347) 438-1420.
Tell them the College Dems sent you, you’ll be welcome with open arms.

Joe Addabbo for State Senate

Another Democrat looking to unseat 20 year incumbent Serphin Maltese. Joe Addabbo along with Jim Gennaro voted No on extending term limits without hearing the voice of the voters so both of these men have my respect and gratitude. Let’s make sure we elect honorable politicians like these into office.

If you want to help out Joe in South Western Queens call HQ at (718) 366-4057
Tell them St. John’s sent you!

Brian X. Foley for State Senate

What can I say about Brian that hasn’t been said about him before? He’s great! As Brookhaven Town Supervisor he’s made it the only Long Island town that wont see a Tax Increase. Brookhaven is no longer Crookhaven and he’s going up against a man who seems to have lost his bearings. This is another race close to the hearts of the College Democrats, Stony Brook University has been doing a hell of a job out there, but they’re overtaxed.

Help out Brian in Suffolk County call HQ at (631) 846-8503
Tell them St. John’s sent you!

John McCain hates Western Pennsylvania

October 26, 2008

So recently John Murtha (D-PA) made some statements which drew outcries from local and national media as racist.

He said “Well, they’re going to have a tough time. You know, I — there’s no question, western Pennsylvania is a racist area. When I say a racist area, I mean they — the older people are hesitant, you know, they’re slow in seeing change, real change.”

The Obama campaign moved quickly to denounce these comments, and it seemed to have died there. Sure he made another comment trying to clear his remarks but Murtha only went on to call them “rednecks.” Didn’t work out too well.

Recently John McCain was in Western Pennsylvania, and he said this at a rally….

“Sen. Obama’s supporters have been saying some pretty nasty things about Western Pennsylvania lately. And you know I couldn’t agree with them more. I couldn’t disagree with you.”

Well he stumbled on, and decided to save himself by just saying something about patriotism and god loving. Because who hates America and god? Democrats according to John McCain.

Was this a Freudian slip? Is he just getting old?

What do you think?
